Guide’s 10 Pet Peeves

Most anglers are eager to succeed on the water, enjoy shore lunch and revel in a wilderness outdoor experience. An experienced guide can make that happen. However, when inexperience shows itself or when clients attempt to take command of the ship, guides have good reason to complain.

Guides are justified when complaining about anglers who:
  • drink more than they fish
  • know-it-all and want to be the guide
  • are reluctant to try different tactics or baits / lures
  • don't pitch in and help with shore lunch
  • always expect to catch lots of big fish
  • are unprepared for changing weather conditions
  • blame the guide when fishing is slow
  • disregard safety and / or MNR regs
  • handle or release fish improperly
  • disrespect the environment
